Abstract

This paper critically explores the pedagogy of Science Planet in creating disciplined, birthing clients in the sexuality training BodyWorks gallery on exhibit in Vancouver, Canada. Making use of Multimodal Crucial Discourse Evaluation, I explore the approaches in which ability/know-how circulates to control and de-agentalise bodies in a science museum come across. I consider the regimes of real truth that emerge regarding the fantastic/right/proper way to give beginning and to be a female: that is, as White, heteronormative, slender, conforming, normally a mom, but and mainly a uterus. In exposing regimes of truth in the encountered curriculum of the science museum, the hope is that sexuality educators could (re)look at house for the unruly and awe-ful within pedagogies of childbirth.
