Abstract

To address teenage learners’ possibility of HIV, STIs and being pregnant, very good high quality school-based sexuality schooling is of wonderful relevance. In this paper we address Zimbabwean youthful people’s design of sexual intercourse and sexuality training. We attract from semi-structured specific interviews performed with forty-7 teenage boys and ladies aged amongst 15 and 19 years in two rural faculties in Zimbabwe. The study’s results advise that young adults make sense of intercourse and sexuality training inside of dominant discursive frameworks that strain the significance of sexual innocence and abstinence, with the sexuality of teenage women obtaining particular surveillance. Having said that, the learners in our study also occupied positions which instructed youthful people’s sexual agency beyond innocence. In the gentle of these contradictions, youngsters in Zimbabwe are caught up in producing the two sexual innocence and sexual agency, producing abstinence only schooling irrelevant to their day to working day life. Implications for future kinds of sexuality schooling and teenagers’ sexual agency in rural Zimbabwean schooling are prompt.
